♦ Men over age 55 account for 95% of New Mexicans diagnosed with prostate cancer.
♦ In New Mexico, prostate cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among American Indian men and the second leading cause, after lung cancer, among non-Hispanic white, Hispanic, and African American men.
♦Prostate cancer is often slow growing. For many men, prostate cancer will never become a serious health problem.
